| Supporting Education · MOF donated $30,000+ to UM-St. Louis School of Optometry for the purchase of new equipment when it started. · MOF has donated over $500,000 to UM-St. Louis College of Optometry and its students over the history of the school. · MOF members have lower registration fees to the MOA annual convention. · Has helped provide education for scope of practice for Missouri OD’s. · Supports MOA activities · Aids in purchase of educational material for MOA and Missouri Optometrists · Hundreds of students of optometry have benefited from one or more MOF grants or scholarships. · In the 2006-07 education year, MOF contributed over $50,000 in scholarship money to students at UM-St. Louis College of Optometry. · Promotes the concept of “private practice” to students. Early minutes of the MOF show a great deal of meeting time was consumed by how to raise money for it’s stated purposes, and what the impact of the proposed new school of optometry “somewhere in the St. Louis area” might be. In 1980, the first class began it’s optometric instruction at the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry with financial aid from the MOF. The Missouri Optometric Foundation, Inc. has been a staunch supporter of the School (College) since that time.
